Sarah Herman has been a part of the #TINation family for a long time, and is very deserving of the opportunity to play at the next level. A lefty who has played right side in club often, but outside for her high school (Mt. Vernon), Sarah has the versatility to help any program, and Depauw University is fortunate to pick her up! Depauw was an ideal choice for Sarah as she looked at schools that were focused on academics, and having a great volleyball program didn’t hurt.
“I had a lot of help and influence from my parents to look for the best school for academics and then somewhere that I could play volleyball would be a bonus,” Herman said about Depauw.
Team Indiana (TI) really helped her all throughout her volleyball career, not just the recruiting portion but playing in a great club with a great atmosphere.
“Playing at a higher level at Team Indiana has challenged me to play more intensely than I would have imagined,” explained Herman. “Getting to watch and scrimmage against some of the top teams in the nation for club right in our own gym has really been a blessing for me growing up.”
Sarah has played on competitive teams throughout her club career, and helped her high school team earn back-to-back sectional titles in 2015 and 2016. All of this helped prepare her, but she has loved her time at TI, especially the recruiting process.
“I came to Team Indiana knowing that Michelle is one of the best at recruiting and would take time personally for me to ensure that I made a committment wherever I would decide to play,” said Herman. “I owe a lot to her for reaching out to other schools for me and starting that communication that otherwise would not have happened without her.”
We are all excited to watch Sarah do great things at Depauw, both academically and athletically! Congratulations, Sarah!
