Jamie Brown Sprouts Into A Sycamore

,

Playing volleyball requires a ton of time, a ton of commitment, and a lot of personal and physical growth, especially if a player is going to commit to playing for four more years after high school. Sometimes it takes time for an athlete to realize their potential, understand their capabilities, and take advantage of great opportunities to achieve something that they may not have always thought possible. Hardly any of these decisions are made linearly, but when they culminate in the ultimate goal of playing college volleyball, it’s such a wonderful thing to watch. Congratulations to Jamie Brown on her commitment to the Indiana State Sycamores!

“I chose Indiana State because it was a great fit for me all around,” said Brown. “I loved the coaches and the girls which was a huge part for me. They also compete at a high level which is something I was striving for.”

Not only does Indiana State provide a competitive volleyball program and schedule in the Missouri Valley Conference, they also provide a ton of educational opportunities with more than 80 academic majors.

“As of now, I plan to major in Biology,” explained Brown. That’s not all she’s excited about, however. “I am so excited to make new friends and just experience college as a student athlete!”

Jamie’s advice for getting herself to this point? Putting in the time and making sure you keep yourself open to ideas and opportunities.

“For others going through the recruiting process, really put yourself out there and go into it with an open mind,” she explains. “You never know where you’ll end up. Just keep working hard and have patience!”

She credits her club volleyball experiences and her coaches with a lot of her growth and development. She also knows that the TI recruiting help created the best opportunity for her.

“I cannot thank TI enough for all they have done for me!” she said. “I came into TI with very little volleyball knowledge and not looking to play in college. The coaching staff really helped improve my game allowing me to play at a higher level now. Michelle has also been such a huge help to me through the entire process! She is so well connected and she helped put me in touch with so many coaches!”

Way to go, Jamie! We could not be more proud! We can’t wait to watch you play for the Sycamores and grow as a player and person. Any player interested in college playing opportunities or discussing options should contact recruiting coordinator, Michelle Coleman (michelle@teamindianavolleyball.com).
