It’s always great when you can, as an athlete, walk into a program where you know you are going to have success, play in a great program with great development, and really contribute. It’s even better when you’re able to tie your academic goals to that program and prepare yourself for your future. Congratulations, Katie Hardegree, on joining the 2019 NAIA National Champion Marian University Knights!
“It’s difficult to know what to look for when choosing a college but, after looking at my all my options at different levels, I chose the one that felt right for me and matched what I wanted in a college,” said Katie. “I chose Marian because it offered me the location I was looking for, the high level of play, and flexibility I was looking for.”
Katie plans to find her path into the medical field once she gets started with her career, but she is extremely excited to get there.
“I am most excited about experiencing some independence and moving to the next level, both in school and volleyball,” she explained.
Her advice to others going through this process? Prepare yourself, but allow for some wiggle room along the way.
“My advice for others is to determine what you want in the beginning of your process but be open to other things because what you want may change,” said Katie.
Her college preparation went beyond the court, making sure that she prepared herself physically so she could be ready. She also cites the level of play at Team Indiana for her preparation.
“Conditioning in the offseason and the level of play at TI has helped prepare me for volleyball in college,” she said.
Congratulations Katie, we could not be more proud of you! We will be excited to see you playing in the Indianapolis area and continuing to compete at a high level.
