Congratulations, Coach Burks!
Every year, varsity coaching positions pop up around the state of Indiana, some more high profile than others. Numerous coaches apply for these positions, gather their resumes, put together their portfolios, go through interviews, and one is selected for the job. It’s always a stressful experience, each coach wanting to have a program to call their own, to have an impact on a school and a community, and to leave their footprint on countless players’ and families’ lives. Well, a member of the #TINation family, Sandra Burks, recently became one of those coaches when she was offered and accepted the position of varsity head coach at Westfield High School. Congratulations, Sandra!
Coach Burks has been a member of Team Indiana for three season, coaching the TI Elite 15 Molten team each year. In the high school realm, she has been a member of many different coaching staffs, with stops at Bethesda Christian, Tri-West High School, Zionsville High School, and finally Westfield High School. She has done it all, from freshman head coach to varsity coach and everything in between, being a part of successful teams and, more importantly, successful people at every stop.
Sandra is a teacher at Westfield High School and has spent many years in the hall of schools around Indianapolis. She received both her bachelors and masters degrees from IUPUI. A native of Brownsburg, IN, a program could not have asked for a coach with more values and more insight into what it takes to not only be a high school volleyball coach, but what it takes to be a high school volleyball coach in our state of Indiana.
We can’t wait to watch Sandra in her first full high school season this upcoming fall and wish her all of the success with her new program! Congratulations Sandra, and go Shamrocks!
