Mark is entering his 45th year of coaching which includes 19 years at the collegiate level and 31 years of club volleyball. He is beginning his 11th year at Team Indiana.
Mark coached at Franklin College, where he still is a full professor in the exercise science department, achieving 487 career wins while competing in the NAIA and NCAA Div. 3. His teams finished 5th in the nation twice with 2 other top 10 finishes. He coached 2 All-Americans, 6 Academic All-Americans and 36 All-district/conference players. He also served as Pres. of the NAIA Volleyball Coaches Association. Mark will be inducted into the Franklin College Athletic Hall of Fame this fall.
While coaching club Mark has coached every age group at the high school level. Teams he has coached (head or assisted) have won 6 medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze) plus 3 fifth place finishes in the open division of USAV Jr. Olympics or AAU national tournaments
Mark was a member of the USAV High Performance coaching staff for 20 years coaching at almost all levels within the program. He was an assistant coach for the women’s junior national team (finished 8th in the 1999 World Championships and included two future Olympians). He has been the head coach of over 40 High Performance camps at all age and skill levels. While on sabbatical from Franklin College Mark, working closely with the women’s national team staff, developed a camp training plan which was adopted by USA Volleyball as the model for their high performance camps.
Mark is married to Estelle and they have 3 children: Joe, Maggie and Elizabeth and two grandchildren; Jack and Eli.
