I’ve played volleyball for more than 30 years and have been coaching for more than 20 years, coaching both boys and girls.
I joined the Team Indiana coaching staff in 2004. I used to be the Freshman coach at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High school and was a varsity assistant coach at the same time, helping coach the program to 3 IHSAA state championships. In 2017, I became the head coach for the Brebeuf’s Boys volleyball team and coached them to back to back regional championships in 2018 and 2019, the first two in the history of the program. I was an assistant men’s volleyball coach at Ramapo College in New Jersey from 1998-2000.
I’ve played on teams in the Garden Empire, Michiana, and Hoosier USA Volleyball regions, which allowed me to play in the USA Volleyball Adult Open Championships in Columbus, Ohio, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I also played in the AVA Sand National Championships in Santa Barbara, California after winning a qualifying tournament in Atlantic City, NJ.
While in the U.S. Navy from 1993 to 1997, I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan aboard the USS Independence (CV-62) and played on three teams while stationed there: the Yokosuka Naval Base team, the USS Independence ship’s team and the SRF Japanese team, which included both American and Japanese players, all of which allowed me to play in various locations in Southeast Asia and Australia.
An Indianapolis native and Warren Central High School alum, I graduated from Montclair State University in New Jersey and was a former English teacher at North Central High School. I live with my wife Sonja in Carmel with our two sons, 16-year-old Gavin and 14-year- old Tristan.
