The path to college volleyball is different for every single player. Each high school experience is different, all club volleyball experiences vary, and every single external stimulus can change the direction, perception, and mindset of the individual player. For Adria Hartley, her dream of college volleyball really didn’t begin until the 2019 club volleyball season, but it has materialized into a commitment to Eastern Kentucky University! Congratulations, AD!

Adria chose EKU for a variety of reasons, none more important than the people that she met along the way and the way she feels about the program.

“I chose EKU because all of the people that I met on my visit were very friendly and genuinely wanted to see me succeed in life, not just as a volleyball player but as a student and a person too,” she said. “My main factors in choosing this school were the coaches, the team, and the campus itself. I loved all of those about EKU.”

She hasn’t decided a major just yet, but thinks she may want to start in pre-law.

Adria is really excited for her next step, but made sure that she didn’t make a snap decision in this process. She really considered her options, and recommends everyone do the same.

“You should always make an informed decision and weigh all of your options evenly so that you can be sure that you’ve made the best choice for you,” she explained. “Be patient and don’t feel rushed.”

As far as preparation for the college volleyball level? Adria has never shied of way from continuing to try to push herself physically.

“I have taken a weights class every semester of high school and I think that will help me be a little more in shape once preseason conditioning starts,” she said.

“This was my first year at TI and I have enjoyed it a lot,” she commented when asked about her TI experience. “Thank you to my coaches Michelle Coleman, Nathaniel Berg, and Ashley Waugh for always pushing me to be my best. And thank you to my teammates who have supported me through this journey.”

Congratulations AD! We are so excited for your next step and can’t wait to see you playing ball at EKU!
